Sika’s Top Ten Christmas Wish List 2011
Lunki has forced us all to write a top ten wish list for Santa Claus and yesterday Janne the Director started it off by wishing for some really outrageous stuff!
I am, as you know, more humble and all I want for Christmas is to update my dvd collection of old british comedy with a bunch of great NEW british comedy. And a giant statue of a woman of course. Who needs more than that..? Well, perhaps a book and some Incredible Hulk.
Here we go (in no particular order, since I assume I’m getting it all):
The Incredible Hulk – Season 2 [DVD]
I love the original Hulk TV show. Maybe it’s nostalgia from watching it as a kid or maybe it’s the thrill of watching Bill Bixby get angry, pop in green lenses and then turn into some middle-sized guy I can’t remember the name of, who then turns into Lou Ferrigno in full body green make-up as The Incredible Hulk over and over again. Or maybe it’s both. Man, that second sentence was looong!
The Dangerous Brothers – Dangervision [DVD]
I love everything with Rik Mayall and Adrian Edmondson. And I have everything they’ve ever done on DVD. Except this one, the first thing they did together. I have it on VHS. But since I haven’t used my VHS player since.. Let me see, when was it.. Hmm, I remember it was back when Britney Spears was bald and hated and Lindsay Lohan was cute and innocent.. Anyway, whenever it was a DVD update of The Dangerous Brothers is a must. They’re not as funny in this as they later became, but still worth every penny (for you, who’s buying it for me).
The Inbetweeners – The Complete Series [DVD]
Ever watched Three and a half Men? Or Jim’s World? Or Whitney? Or Rita Rocks? What do they all have in common? Yeah, they are all not great sitcoms. This one is. It’s an awkward (sometimes painfully so) tale of four teenage boys following them through three years of school, girls, drugs and hardship. Oh, and they’re British..
It’s extremely well acted and funny AND it has a guy that looks like a giant version of Rik Mayall.
Peep Show – Complete Series [DVD]
No, it’s not an old porn show from the 1920’s. It’s yet another great british sitcom! It’s starring David Mitchell and Robert Webb as roommates and best friends. It is stylistically fresh, as the show uses point of view shots with the thoughts of main characters Mark and Jeremy audible as voiceovers.
The Mighty Boosh – Series 1-3 Box Set [DVD]
What, yet YET another great british sitcom? Well, sort of. I’m not sure if I would dare to just call it a sitcom. It IS though, but it’s also so much more. It’s starring the awesome comedy duo Julian Barratt and Noel Fielding and it’s like a weird musical comedy with adventures and fantasies and creatures and great characters. Someone (me) would call it “Lunki and Sika on psychadelic mushrooms”. So there, if nothing else, THAT would convince you of its greatness.
This is Spinal Tap – Limited Marshall Amp Edition [Blu-ray]
..can’t hardly speak.. ..drooling.. ..so.. ..much.. ..bonus.. ..material.. ..and.. ..even.. ..though.. ..I.. ..don’t.. ..have.. a.. guitar.. ..I.. ..want.. ..that.. ..amp.. ..it’s.. ..limited.. (fainted from excitement)
Ideal: Complete Series 1-7 Box Set [DVD]
Why hasn’t Johnny Vegas become an international comedy super star yet? He reminds me of Johnny the Intern, he’s hilarious, obese and just brilliant in everything he does. You need subtitles when listening to him though, to understand what the hell he’s saying. Isn’t it ironic that most people from Great Britain, the island who invented the English language, speak an incomprehensible version of it?
The Trip [DVD]
I just found out that there’s an edited movie version of this great, fake travel documentary/sitcom. Yeah, it’s also british, why do you ask? Anyway, why see a 107 minute movie when you instead can watch the complete adventures of Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon traveling to remote northern British countryside restaurants and watch them eat food and talk for 172 minutes? Yeah, I know. It’s such an easy choice!
Bigger than Hitler – Better than Christ [Paperback]
Yeah I know.. ..a book.. BUT, when it’s written by aforementioned Rik Mayall and is called Bigger than Hitler, Better than Christ, you know it’s going to be worth your hard earned money buying it for me. The book is apparently kind of biographical and is filled with stories from the comedian’s life, told in a Rik Mayall way. So I guess this Christmas, I’m in for a crazy, zany ride! And thank you in advance for this amazing gift!
She-Hulk Premium Format Figure from Incredible Hulk (1:4 scale) [Toy]
A giant green sexy statue of She-Hulk?? Why, thank you!! Now.. where to put it..?
