Review: A couple of weeks ago Janne the Director said he would love to see a The Commitments remake! … I’m not sure if he really meant it or if he just wanted to wind me up because he knows I love this movie AND hates remakes, but hey, for once I will play along in this remake crazy Hollywood amnesia world of ours, and put on my Harold Pinter tweed jacket and tell you exactly what a Hollywood remake of The Commitments would look like. Here’s what they’ll do with it:

Jimmy Rabbitt will be played by Brad Pitt. Something for the ladies/gay audience to feast their eyes on. He is also a reliable leading man, but since his latest endevours have failed at the box office this will be his triumphant return.

Do I hear Oscar buzz? I sure do.

Jack Black was born to play lead singer Deco. The only one standing in his way is Jonah Hill, and when he gains all his weight back (and he will to snatch this part from Jack) it’s going to be a toss-up between the two. What, a surprise last minute twist? Philip Seymoure Hoffman swoops in and snags it behind their backs!!

Mickah Wallace, the “crazy drummer” will be played by Chris Elliott. I have said it before and I’ll say it again: why isn’t Chris Elliott a bigger star?? I really want to know, cause it keeps me up at nights.

Almost as much as my “They still let Josh Hartnett star in movies?” question, but at least I believe the Chris Elliott question can be answered. Hmm.. perhaps those questions go together, but instead of there being two questions, the second one is the answer to the first one.

The trio of girls singing background will be a bold choice made by director Tim Burton (who other?), and a comedic one since he casts the funniest women in Hollywood at the moment; Tina Fey, Kristen Wiig and lovely Felicia Day.

When it turns out only Felicia Day can sing, the other two are dubbed by Selena Gomez and Ashley Tisdale: Later, Disney execs (yeah Disney is making it) send down word that Ms. Day, or is it Mrs? I’m desperatley hoping for Ms.. Anyway, that she isn’t “Disney” enough to sing and her voice ends up dubbed by Justin Bieber.

Actually, this doesn’t sound half bad actually.. Damn me and my brilliant mind coming up with an awesome remake for The Commitments that even I like!!! Seriously, I want to see this made now, so do me a favor, here’s a couple of tweets you can start to spread and ask people to retweet just to see if we can’t get this thing done!!

Really? Tina Fey, Kristen Wiig and Felicia Day in talks for a “The Commitments” remake? http://wp.me/py41M-3UO #bestremakeever

Wow! Hollywood is finally remaking The Commitments! It’s about time. Brad Pitt is going to be awesome!! http://wp.me/py41M-3UO #bestremakeever
