Janne the Director’s Favorite Rare Movies Top 100 List #21: Twisted Nerve (1968)

April 27, 2011

The Director of the Animated Comedy Series Lunki and Sika Janne the Director21. Twisted Nerve [DVD] (1968)

You know that whistling song from Kill Bill that everybody had as their cellphone ringtone? Yeah, Tarantino got that from this film and if you wanna be cool when somebody’s phone goes of and it still play that tune?

Sing-a-long with the lyrics!

Cleaver. Cleaver. Chop. Chop.
First the mom and then the pop.
Then we’ll get the pretty girl.
We’ll get her right between the curl.

That is also the plot of the film. But it is NOT a slasher! It’s a nice and sweet film about a guy pretending to be retarded so he can stalk a girl. Kind of like a The Hand That Rocks the Cradle/Psycho hybrid BUT a billion times more… awkward. Not weird but awkward.

Like if Ricky Gervais made a thriller but without the humor. It got that Office (UK)/Extras sensibilities in that way that you will have to look away from the screen because you feel so ashamed for the characters actions.

Okay now, everybody sing-a-long to the theme in the clip now!

PREVIOUS ON THE LIST: 22. Dellamorte Dellamore (Cemetery Man) (1994)
