The Three Stooges

April 8, 2011

The comedy trio was in business in front of the camera from 1930 to 1965 and in constant painful Tom & Jerry mode – pushing out an average of 6 movies a year!

I’m a huge fan with dreams and ambitions to give my friends eyepokes too, so when the news hit that there would be a new Three Stooges movie made, I was excited. Thing is: the news hit about 10 years ago and since then nothing really happened. Until now: my expectations got lowered.

The rumor mill had a cast of Benicio Del Toro as Moe, Jim Carrey would eat his way into the part of Curly; and Sean Penn would don his old Carlito’s Way hairpiece and play Larry. Sounds pretty awesome whatever they would play.

NOW they have Sean Heyes as Larry and Will Sasso as Curly. We somehow went from Spicoli to the gay guy on speed in Will & Grace? When even Grace would’ve been a better option?! This sounds more like the villains in Home Alone made for TV sequel than a… movie. Who will they cast as Moe? By now I wouldn’t be surprised if they picked Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino based on how funny he was at the Comedy Central’s Roast of Donald Trump.

Okay, I may be a bit harsh. I mean I actually like Will Sasso and he will make a fine Curly. We have all had the hypothetical question “who would play you in a movie based on your life” and I have always said: “Will Sasso.” The guy has only been in SHIT but he is always good. So I hope this turns out well for him.

And I hope the Farrelly brothers will use Richard Jenkins again (as they always do) in a Emil Sitka kind of way. And if you don’t know who Sitka was you don’t know your Stooges and have read all this for no reason at all.
