Janne the Director’s Favorite Rare Movies Top 100 List #67: Wes Craven’s New Nightmare (1994)

Janne the Director with a Space Mahoney t-shirt from the movie No Law 400067. Wes Craven’s New Nightmare [DVD] (1994)

When Wes Craven made meta jokes about the world of horrors with Scream in 1996 it was “inventive”. When he did it BETTER two years earlier it’s literally “ahead of it’s time”.

This movie is not only better than Scream (a movie that aged like Carrie-Anne Moss: not well!) but it is also the best Nightmare on Elm Street movie. Yes, I said it. The 6th sequel nailed it!

Here we got the cast from the original movie playing themselves, the lovely teen turned MILF Heather Langenkamp, John “I’m famous for what?” Saxon and even director Wes Craven pops up! Not even Robert Englund is safe from Freddy Krueger!

Maybe Wes Craven will get Scream 7 right too?

PREVIOUS ON THE LIST: 68. Poultrygeist: Night of the Chicken Dead (2006)

I love the Penelope character on Criminals Minds. The shows problem as is true of Law and Orders ci”s Goren is the producers have allowed idiot critics to critcize these characters as too intelligent. Goren and Reed were characters who were proud of their intellect as they should be and brandished it without apology. The critics ever the advocates of disfunction, stupidity, and mediocrity attacked them with the “know it all” label. Which interprets” we don’t want to be reminded of how shallow we are.” More good shows have been ruined by this dumbing down of television than anything.”
