We have Beards so we know Movies! Review: TR2N: Legacy 3D
I don’t understand how Sika in his post yesterday could misinterpret me asking him 3 times to come and see Tr2n: Legacy with me as ”reneged on his invitation”. I don’t even ask a hot girl more than 3 times and usually less than that when it comes to sympathy invites to people who spent Christmas by himself crying in the shower while singing “One Is The Loneliest Number”. After the third time I either give up or receive a restraining order.
Anyways; I saw Tr2n: Legacy and it was great.
Why? Was it the fantastic plot? No, for some reason I didn’t look for a plot… Wonder why? Maybe it was the thrill of finding out how a videogame can be cool after 28 years even though videogames usually got the longevity of Buckner & Garcia.
Maybe it was just nostalgia? Nah, I don’t like the first Tron (Tr1n?) at all. It deserves it’s spot in filmmaking history for having been a pain in the ass to make during a time where they didn’t even have floppy discs (and people like Buckner & Garcia could have hits) but let’s be honest: it’s dull and dumb.
Let’s go on with my filler text before I just say what made Tr2n: Legacy good… Was it the effects, getting two Dudes for the price of one or Olivia Wilde in a skintight shiny outfit? No, the effects weren’t impressive; there weren’t really 2 Dudes but 1 & a series of ones and zeros that looked like the Dude’s action figure. And Olivia Wilde… Okay, I can’t deny that Olivia Wilde in 3D helped me forget about this thing called “plot”.
Tr2n: Legacy really is dumb and there is a ton of shit squeezed into it (Michael Sheen’s visually inverted version of Chris Tucker in The Fifth Element is the icing on the shit cake) but I still liked it! Because it’s really… (wait for it… dramatic pause here…) ..enjoyable.
Yeah, that’s it, this is the payoff you get for getting through all my filler: it’s simply enjoyable. It’s like being able to fart after an important meeting that you had to be polite through. It just feels real good even if it smells bad. The visuals are cool but what really makes this fart so much sweeter is Daft Punk’s score. And the cool visuals in 3D to that amazing score is like farting for two hours straight and then Olivia Wilde walks in and says: “Mmm… Please… Go on.” Yeah: it’s that level of make belief.
