DC-problem No.2: Pet Peeves

October 28, 2010

the animated comedy series and blog lunki and sika - janne the director is summoned to the office by sika trying to sound cool like jack bauer from 24For you who don’t know what a “DC-problem” is: It’s a Swedish saying the rest of the world hasn’t caught up on yet but we here at the Lunki and Sika office plan to make that happen. The DC stands for Developed Country and a DC-Problem is something that only is a problem if you live a spoiled life in context to, let’s say a real problem like starvation, war or David Spade.

My DC-problem today is pet peeves. I have about a billion of them but here is my top 3:

• English Songs that hook you by using Spanish names. Madonna’s “La Isla Bonita”, Sweden’s own ABBA dragging nails over the chalkboard with “Fernando” and “Chiquitita” and Lady Gaga singing about “Ale-Alejandro, Alejandro, Ale-Alejandro… Alejandroooo”. For fucks sake, sing about a guy named Biff!

• Movies where somebody is dying and says: “I’m so cold…”. A movie can be perfectly fine until some lame screenwriter lack the knowledge of giving a dying character sympathy. He/she/it is DYING! How hard can it be? If you have failed to make the audience connect with your character at his/her/it’s death scene you got other problems…

• “LOL”. No, I actually don’t mind that people are too lazy to write “Laughing Out Loud”. What annoys me is that I’m pretty damn sure that 99 times out of 100 you don’t actually LAUGH OUT LOUD but perhaps smirk or giggle. So don’t write “LOL”for something you think was mildly funny. It makes every asshole on the Internet believe he/she/it is a fucking comedian, okay?!

So, what are YOUR pet peeves then?
