Review: Back in 1985 I was eleven years old and all I wanted for Christmas was a DeLorean time machine. All we had was a Volvo and it had nothing that resembled a Flux Capacitor. It was far from silver colored too, it was purple and while it also had two doors, they did not open as cool as the DeLorean’s.
Nerdiest Movie Trivia: Universal Pictures head Sid Sheinberg didn’t like the title “Back to the Future”, insisting that nobody would see a movie with “future” in the title. In a memo to Robert Zemeckis, he said that the title should be changed to “Spaceman From Pluto”, tying in with the Marty-as-alien jokes in the film, and also suggested further changes like replacing the “I’m Darth Vader from planet Vulcan” line with “I am a spaceman from Pluto!” Sheinberg was persuaded to change his mind by a response memo from Steven Spielberg, which thanked him for sending a wonderful “joke memo”, and that everyone got a kick out of it. Sheinberg, too proud to admit he was serious, gave in to letting the film retain its title.
1985 was also the year I fell in love with Huey Lewis and the News.
I used to carry around a cassette player blasting “The Power of Love” while rummaging through our kitchen cupboards for Plutonium. Aaahh, sweet childhood memories.
I love this trilogy. I watch it at least once a year and I never get tired of it.
When oh when will someone donate their fetus to Michael J Fox so we can get a fourth installment of Back to the Future? Why do all women hate the Arts?

OSCAR COUNT:

~The Dippylomat esq.
Even though Janne the Director thinks I’m like Doc Brown and lives in the past, I do watch current movies from time to time. And for you and the Mrs I am at the moment penning down a list of current movie greatness.
I’m not sure if you have read Sika’s list so far but he don’t watch recent movies unless Rooney Mara, Freddy Kreuger or monkeys are in them.
But if you are hungover like me: Bridesmaids (skip Hangover II).
Sober: Submarine.
You are welcome.
