Plot: A grandfather (Peter Falk) reads his ill grandson (Fred Savage) a classic story of love and adventure. The beautiful Buttercup (Robin Wright), engaged to the odious Prince Humperdinck (Chris Sarandon) is kidnapped and held against her will in order to start a war. It is up to hero Westley (Cary Elwes) to save her. On the way he meets a thief (Wallace Shawn) and his hired helpers, an accomplished swordsman (Mandy Patinkin) and a huge, super strong giant (André the Giant), both of whom become Westley’s companions in his quest.

Review: As much as I love dwarfs, they are no match for giants. Ever seen a frat boy who is trying to look cool and crushes an empty beer can after he has emptied it?
That’s what André the Giant would do to Warwick Davis if they ever met in a Celebrity Death Match.
I was actually writing that as a joke, but now when I read it back; how awesome would that Celebrity Death Match be??!! Sadly, since André the Giant is dead that dream will never be realized. And Warwick Davis lives to see another day.
And speaking of frat boys.. That thing with the can, is that a “movie made thing” or are college guys actually like that? Anybody know? I’ve only gone to University in Sweden and I didn’t see anybody do that at a party. Nor did I see sorority girls lining up for wet t-shirt contests either… Damn Sweden…

But back to the movie.
I wonder if Robin Wright ever thought two of her movies would make it onto a bearded Swedes Top 100 Greatest Movies of All Time? If so, she’s welcome. I’m glad to have made her day.
She’s worth it I think.
Cary Elwes is also worth a mention. He’s great in the lead. He’s also a chameleon actor, since I’ve seen multiple movies without realizing it’s actually him who is starring in it. Like Saw.
When the credits started at the end I was like: “Wait what? Cary Elwes? Where?” And had to rewind to make sure it was really him.
Seriously. And it has happened a couple of other times as well, but then in bad movies who I don’t remember what they were called.
But in this one he’s on top of his game; fighting alongside sword master Mandy Patinkin and André the Giant on their quest to save the beautiful Robin Wright.
I feel I keep getting sidetracked, but remember when Mandy Patinkin starred on Criminal Minds? Wasn’t the show better back then?
Anyway, this movie is the ultimate adventure movie in my opinion, it has it all: pirates, sword fights, princesses, haunted forests, villains, wizards and a giant. And Billy Crystal.
Nerdiest Movie Trivia: When Count Rugen hits Westley over the head, Cary Elwes told Christopher Guest to go ahead and hit him for real. Guest hit him hard enough to shut down production for a day while Elwes went to the hospital.
