When Slow Motion Doves Cry
October 26, 2010
I saw a documentary about John Woo the other night and boy did it suck. They had Mr. Voice quickly sum up the director’s legendary Hong Kong years, from 1986 (A Better Tomorrow) to 1992 (Hard Boiled) with “and he did a couple of cult movies” and the rest of the documentary was about how he “finally made it big” when he came to America and gave Jean Claude van Damme a mullet.
It’s like doing a documentary about the Beatles and summing up 1963-1969 with “they made some hummable tunes” and then focus the rest of the documentary on Ringo.
