the animated comedy series and blog lunki and sika - sika in a family guy angry monkey t-shirtI am back at the house I house-sat in last week; this time in my secondary occupation: Dog Watcher. The dog that was a menace last summer has grown from a puppy into a less biting-shitting-and-peeing-everywhere-kind of dog. He’s pretty cool nowadays.

A couple of nights ago we did however experience something weird. It was in the middle of the night with a full moon shining down on us while I was trying to get him to take a dump on the lawn.

I looked up at the moon and witnessed something scary. The moon was shaking. Literally shaking. It’s hard to explain what it looked like but it freaked me out. I have never seen anything like it before. And when the dog started to bark at the moon I decided to get back inside.

Did anyone else witness the moon vibrating like a maracas or am I loosing my mind?

    You are loosing your mind…surprised?

But don´t worry, it will work out fine.

I was just looking at the moon………. i thought it was a bit lower in the sky than normal. and alot brighter. then i kept looking as it and I saw it moving! scared the hell out of me. it looked as though it was shaking on the spot, within the past 10 mins I can see it has got higher in the sky. but it freaked me out! so I wanted to google it, I also looked on the news to see if it was the end of the world…… :s

Thanks for commenting and letting everyone know that I’m perhaps not crazy!! I have searched forums across the Internet and found an Australian couple with the same experience as you and me. So now we are four. Hopefully more will emerge!!

You are not crazy and apparently I am not either. I saw the moon shaking many years ago and I never knew what it was all about or met anyone who said they saw something like this either. I havent seen it happen since but it was a crazy trip!!

Thanks for sharing your story. I am trying to come up with a name for us “moon-shaker-watchers”. So far that’s all I got.

11/08/2011 full moon. I’m in central France and I just saw the full moon in clear sky with almost no clouds and it was shaking/vibrating heavily and emitting a blue glow that got larger and smaller. It also got brighter and then less bright again a few times. My mother was right beside me and she actually saw it first. I looked it up on the internet and found your page talking about it as well as some others. Apparently this has been going on for at least a couple years and quite a few people must have witnessed it already. Totally crazy phenomenon!

Yeah, it was scary, yet an amazing sight. And I love to see people from all over the world sharing their stories here!!

      Thank you (and your mom)!

There’s actually a lot of interesting information out there about the true origins of the moon and also about what’s really going on there. George Kavassilas talks about it (www.our-journey-home.com or look on YouTube) and David Icke talks about it extensively in his latest book. There’s also a book called ‘Who Built the Moon?’ by Christopher Knight and Alan Butler. Look it up on Amazon. Very intriguing stuff.

googled “shaking moon” because it is shaking right now.. also bouncing. it looks like it’s fighting some kind of pull and it moves from side to side and gets pulled down. my mom and i were looking at the clouds because they look amazing right now and i said “i think i’m need to go to bed cause the moon looks like it’s moving and she was like i wasn’t going to say anything but i see it too” we’ve been staring at it for the past ten minutes i would really like to know why this is happening.. it is the scariest most fantastic thing i have ever seen. I expected to see a bunch of headlines about the end of the world or something on yahoo! WTF IS THIS CRAP!? if anyone else finds info PLEASE post it! this is amazing.

There is a boring explanation to the moon shaking phenominon. First I would lime to say that I too have witnessed the moon vibrate and shake during a full moon, almost as if it was going to erupt. I was sleeping out on the lawn with my friends one summer when I was young, back in the 90′s. We all saw it.
This is simply an optical illusion caused from the bright foreground of the moon on a dark background. Next time you see a full moon, if you watch it long enough it will usually start to shake. You can snap out of it, and stop / start the shaking (from my experience). This is however, my own personal theory. I may be wrong. I didn’t find anything online to support my theory other than “Pareidolia”. Search it on wiki. This isn’t a great match for my theory but one step closer to explaining how it’s possible.

Interesting, and thanks for your comment.

In my experience, I tried to “snap out of it”, went inside to get my video camera and when I was outside again it was still vibrating as I looked up. It didn’t take any time for it to start vibrating again, is what I’m saying. My attempt to film it failed, since it was too dark outside to film the moon and also get a reference point (something NOT moving) in the frame as well.

I too am one of the elite “MAGIC MOON” club! I saw it hopping, dancing, vibrating & shaking in the sky in South Africa last year during our winter. It was completely AMAZING… also had to run and call the children to observe the phenomenon to make sure there was nothing wrong with my eyes. Would LOVE to find an explanation for it. Until then, I’ll just enjoy the magic!

I think “Magic Moon Club” is a great suggestion for our little group. Welcome to the club, by the way!
