Zombie vs. Vampire

October 27, 2009

lunkiYes, it’s true. I love Halloween. And I love candy. This is perhaps the best time of the year for me.

And since Sika went on his no-carb diet it has turned out even better. Because even though I love candy, it tastes even better when I know I’m tormenting Sika at the same time. It’s all fun and and games here at the office. Well, for me anyway.

I can’t wait to go trick or treating. But I haven’t decided what costume to wear. Maybe I’ll dress up as a Zombie again, like when Sika and me tried to be a part of the upcoming movie Björkpollen of the Dead. Remember?

The interest for Zombies totally exploded after we posted that clip on the Internet. Or maybe I’ll go as a Vampire. Maybe Lunki and Sika can start a buzz about them as well? We’ll see.

I would definitely choose to be a vampire, but thats because I love vampire books, although zombies aren’t that bad a choice either…

I understand, as a bookaholic, that you prefer Vampires. Are there by the way any good Zombie books?

I love them both, but when it comes to dressing up as one or the other, I think I’d prefer the Vampire. The Zombie makeup was such a hassle washing off last time.

Oh, and welcome to our blog, bookaholic! Hope to see you again.

Well, I can’t recall reading any books were zombies are the main characters. The only time I actually read a book where zombies exist is the early Anita Blake Vampire Hunter series. It´s about Anita Blake (duh), a vampire AND zombie hunter AND necromancer. And even then a zombie represents just a mindless shell, easily disposable. But there was a really tricky one in the first book (there are 17 as of yet).

A really good vampire/magic/urban fantasy bookseries is the Kate Daniels books by Ilona Andrews. There are some vampires but they are solely used by necromancers and acts like zombies if they are on their own. Very good reads!

I think there aren’t many zombie books because zombies are viewed as less exotic (than vampires) and stinky, filthy brainless creatures. No pun intended.

Thanks for the suggestions! I just remembered a book about, or at least with Zombies. The Serpent and the Rainbow by Wade Davis. It was adapted into a pretty good movie starring Bill Pullman. But as it often turns out, the book is better.

One of the only books I have ever read is Let the right one in by John Ajvide Lindqvist, a great book about vampires. But on the other hand I already have the Zombie outfit.. well we’ll see how it turns out!

Sure you shouldn’t skip that silly diet and come trick and treating with me Sika!?

I like Zombies too. A very special kind of humans(or non humans).
